## General IT Support Questions

What does managed IT services actually mean in plain language?

Here's the honest version. Most businesses treat IT like a car they never service, they ignore it until something breaks down on the highway. Then it's expensive, it's stressful, and everything stops until it gets fixed. Managed IT services mean someone's checking under the hood regularly. Not because you called. Just because that's the job. We're in your systems, watching things, handling the boring maintenance stuff that prevents the dramatic failures. Law offices, doctor's offices, accounting firms around Virginia tend to like this model because they've usually been burned by the other one.

How can IT support help my business?

Here's something nobody talks about much. Tech problems don't just cost you the repair, they cost you the hours your people spend not doing their jobs while the problem exists. The office manager who spends two hours trying to fix the internet instead of doing actual office manager stuff. The lawyer who can't access a file before a call. That time disappears and nobody invoices for it, but it adds up. Decent IT support cuts that down significantly. That's probably the part that matters most day to day.

What is the difference between IT support and managed IT services?

With regular IT support you're basically calling a handyman when the roof leaks. They come, they patch it, they leave. Nobody thought about the roof until water was coming in. Managed services is closer to having someone who inspects the roof, cleans the gutters, and notices the flashing is loose before winter hits. When you do have a problem, we already know your setup. We're not spending the first 30 minutes figuring out your network password.

Is the 60-second response time actually real?

We get asked this a lot, which makes sense, most people have been burned by providers who advertise fast response and then put you on hold for 45 minutes. Call us right now. An engineer picks up, not a phone menu or someone who's going to "put in a ticket." We've built the whole operation around this because we watched how much it mattered to clients who came from other providers. It's real.

What happens when we call after hours or on a weekend?

Exact same thing. Engineer picks up in under 60 seconds. We don't have different service levels for different times of day. A lot of the worst IT situations we've ever dealt with happened on weekend evenings, ransomware doesn't wait for Monday. Neither do we.

We are a small team. Is this service even worth it for us?

Small teams are often the most vulnerable when something goes wrong, not the least. No IT department means the problem lands on whoever's available, which usually means someone doing something they're not trained for while their actual work piles up. We've worked with plenty of small Virginia businesses, some of them genuinely just a few people, and the ROI usually becomes pretty obvious within the first few months. A few of those small teams aren't small anymore, for what it's worth.

## Services & Pricing Questions

What services do you offer?

Network monitoring, cybersecurity, backup and recovery, cloud services, general help desk for everyday issues, hardware and software problems, compliance work for regulated industries, and on-site visits when remote isn't going to cut it. We work heavily with legal, medical, and financial businesses in Virginia because those environments have real stakes around data and uptime. Got a specific situation? Call and describe it. We'll give you a straight answer.

How is your pricing structured and will there be surprise charges?

Flat and clear. You know what you're paying before anything starts. During the free consultation we go through exactly what's included and what falls outside that. We hear a lot of stories from new clients about what their last IT provider's invoices looked like, random charges, vague line items, stuff that was never discussed. That's not something our clients deal with.

Do you offer remote IT support?

That's how most things get handled. You call, an engineer picks up, and they're usually already pulling up your system before you've finished explaining what happened. It's faster and less disruptive than someone driving to your office. For things that genuinely need hands on hardware, we'll say so and get someone there.

Can you fix things without coming to our office every time?

Most of the time, yes. Software issues, login problems, network stuff, account changes, the majority of everyday problems get fixed remotely, usually pretty quickly. Booking a two-hour site visit for something that takes 12 minutes over remote access doesn't make sense. When we do need to come in, we tell you upfront.

Is there a long-term contract required?

Depends on the package, which we cover during the consultation. But we'll say this here, locking clients into contracts they can't get out of isn't how we want to operate. If the service is good, people stay. That's what we'd rather bet on.

We already have an IT provider. Can you take over without creating a big mess?

We do this pretty regularly. Transitions are usually less painful than people expect. We come in, assess what's in place, document everything, and take over in a way that keeps your business running normally. Some of our clients were genuinely dreading the switch. Most of them say afterward they wish they'd done it sooner.

## Security & Compliance Questions

How do you handle cybersecurity for businesses?

It's woven into everything rather than sitting off to the side as an optional extra. Especially for businesses dealing with legal records, health information, or financial data, the stakes are high enough that it can't be an afterthought. We handle endpoint protection, email security, network monitoring, access management, and threat detection. We also have response plans already in place for when something does happen, because assuming it won't is not a plan.

We already have antivirus on our computers. Isn't that enough?

No, and that's not a sales pitch. Antivirus catches certain known threats. The stuff hitting businesses right now, ransomware, phishing, stolen credentials, regularly gets through antivirus without triggering anything. It's a different category of problem than antivirus was ever designed to solve. If that's the main thing between your data and a breach, there's a real gap worth talking about.

Can you help with HIPAA compliance?

Yes. A meaningful portion of our clients are medical practices or businesses operating close enough to healthcare that HIPAA applies. Compliance means proper data handling procedures, access controls, audit logging, backup protocols that meet the standard, and staff who actually know what they're responsible for. If you're unsure where your current setup lands, start with the free consultation.

How do you handle data backup and recovery?

Automated, encrypted, and actually tested, which is where a lot of providers cut corners. It's one thing to have a backup running. It's another thing to verify it'll recover your data when your server dies on a Sunday. We run real recovery tests on a schedule. We've had clients come to us after discovering their backup had been silently failing for months. Finding that out during an actual disaster is a terrible time to find it out.

How do you protect us from cyber threats?

Around-the-clock monitoring, patching vulnerabilities before they become doors, and working with your staff on the human side of things, which is honestly where most breaches actually start. Not some sophisticated technical attack. Someone clicked a convincing email. Someone reused a password. We work on that layer too. And we have response procedures ready for when something does get through because no setup is completely airtight and the first hour of a breach matters more than most people realize.

What industries do you work with?

Law firms, medical practices, and accounting offices across Virginia are the core. Also, other professional services businesses where the data is sensitive and compliance isn't optional. A security problem in these industries isn't just an IT headache, it's a regulatory problem, a client trust problem, sometimes a liability problem. If your business operates in that world and you're trying to figure out whether we'd be a good fit, one phone call will tell you. Under 60 seconds.
